Año: 2015
Autor(es): ESA
Uganda is putting significant efforts toward addressing the constraints responsible for its low agricultural productivity, which affects farmers’ incomes and therefore, their food security. The biggest developments are being seen in improving the added value of its production, as well as in supporting strategic commodities such as livestock and rice. In the past years, the Government is implementing measures to fight the persistent micronutrient deficiency as well as piloting a cash transfer program to increase access to food by supporting Ugandans’ incomes. Additional efforts are being made to diversify and strengthen exports, with a marked focus in enhancing the competitiveness of the agribusiness private sector.
