The Tajikistan Household Budget Survey (HBS) has the particular characteristic of collecting expenditure and income data from the same households over a long period. The longitudinal survey design accounts for all variations, including seasonal effects, when analysed over the months of the yearly period. This paper presents some trend analysis of food security statistics derived from the 2005 Tajikistan Household Panel Monthly Food Consumption Data, collected from a sample of 925 households, and evaluates the impact of variability of the distribution of food consumption on food security statistics estimates.
