FAPDA Country fact sheet on food and agriculture policy trends - Kenya

Année: 2015
Auteur(s): FAO
In recent years, government's investments in agriculture have focused on increasing land under irrigation, subsidizing inputs, strengthening the agricultural extension service and reforming agricultural sector institutions through the privatization of a number of parastatals. Although agriculture represents the largest contributor to Kenya's GDP, the allocation of public expenditure to the sector has remained below the five percent over the past decade. In terms of social policies, priority has been given to scaling up nutrition-specific interventions and expanding cash transfer programmes. Despite an increasing consensus on the need to adopt a holistic approach to food and nutrition security, formal multi-sectoral collaboration is still lacking and nutrition-sensitive interventions are not adequately promoted.
