University of Hormozgan (UHormozgan)

The University of Hormozgan was founded in 1991 in the port city of Bandar Abbas on Iran’s southern coast, close to where the straits of Hormoz bring the Persian Gulf to its narrowest point. The University of Hormozgan was founded in 1991 and started activity by launching 6 undergraduate courses (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematical Secretary, Physics Secretary, and Persian Literature Secretary). The university currently has about 6000 students in different educational levels (40 BSc, 71 MSc, and 32 PhD programs). The University of Hormozgan has seven faculties and colleges (Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Science And Marine Technologies, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Faculty of Management, Economics and Accounting, and Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering), Minab Higher Education college and three research institutes (Hormoz Research Institute, Coastal Desert Research Institute, Regional Mangrove Research Institute). The university is located near Bandar Abbas and includes ​​55,000 square meters (6,000 square meters for office affairs, 20,000 square meters for dormitories, and 29,000 square meters for educational, research, and cultural affairs). It is worth mentioning that currently, more than 220 faculty members work in University including 5 full-professors, 50 associate professors, and 170 assistant professors.
