Webinar cycle: International exchanges on post COVID-19 food system

The limits and weaknesses of food globalization have become unquestionably visible in the current context of the pandemic we are experiencing and in the ensuing economic crisis that lies ahead. The 3.7 million people at risk of poverty in Portugal will surely be the main victims of this pandemic, which requires a consistent response from governments, civil society, academia and the private sector to promote sustainable food systems.

In order to promote sustainable reflections and share experiences on the ongoing responses in Portugal and other countries, ACTUAR and partners in the "Food is Right project!" organize the cycle “Conversations @ table: International exchanges on the post-COVID-19 food system”.

Each debate will be attended by guests from various countries and animators from REALIMENTAR - Portuguese Network for Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security. It is hoped that the final discussion will make it possible to systematize a set of conclusions that support the formulation of policies and programs also to be implemented in Portugal.

Find the outcomes of the first webinar "Family Farming at the crossroads", which took place on 17th April 2020 with Andrea Ferrante (Schola Campesina, Italy), Laura Lorenzo (World Rural Forum, Spain) and Gonçalo Leal, General Director of Agriculture and Rural Development of Portugal here (in Portuguese).
