Report Launch "Building Sustainable Food Systems: Steps Ireland can take to become a global leader" on 21 July at 14:00 IST

The Irish Government has set out the commendable ambition to become a global leader in sustainable food systems over the next decade. Given Ireland’s commitments to international and regional agreements, including those related to the right to food, the European Green Deal, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, this report assesses where Ireland is at and what Ireland needs to do, in both the domestic and international spheres, to achieve the set ambition.

The virtual launch event- "Building Sustainable Food Systems: Steps Ireland can take to become a global leader" will take place on Wednesday 21 July at 14:00 (IST). During the launch event, the report’s lead author, Sinead Mowlds, will present the objectives, findings, and recommendations before a diverse panel of respondents from the Global North and South.

Respondents include Shefali Sharma (Director, Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy Europe), Gertrude Pswarayi-Jabson (Country Co-Ordinator, PELUM Zimbabwe), and John Brennan (Talamh Beo/Leitrim Organic Farmers Coop).
