Agroecology Training: Towards sustainable food systems – Introducing the transformative approach of agroecology

The article highlights the urgent need for transforming global food systems due to the social and environmental problems caused by intensified agriculture, such as climate change and biodiversity loss. Agroecology, which integrates sustainable farming practices with environmental conservation, is gaining attention as a solution to these challenges. It aligns with global goals like climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and combating land degradation.

To enable a widespread adaptation and mainstreaming of agroecological approaches in development policies and practices, GIZ has developed training materials that provide a strategic understanding of agroecology. These resources are modular and adaptable, offering both theoretical knowledge and practical insights for integrating agroecological approaches into development projects. The materials do not prescribe specific practices but offer guidance based on international research and tools, helping users implement agroecology in diverse contexts.

Training material is available in English, French, and Spanish.
