The Collaborative Crop Research Program (CCRP) of the McKnight Foundation is hosting an online gathering ''Farmer-centered research for agroecology: Transforming research, reimagining food systems'' on 25-27 October with contributors from across the globe. Participants will hear stories, perspectives, experiences and evidence from farmers, researchers and the organizations that collaborate with them.

A diverse range of online sessions, films, workshops, masterclasses, panel discussions, thematic sessions, storytelling, poetry and music as part of the Online Gathering.

Answers to the following questions will be explored:

DAY 1: Farmer research networks

  • What does it mean to put farmers at the centre of research processes?
  • What skills are required to facilitate these processes?
  • What changes are we seeing as a result of these approaches?

Day 2: Advancing agroecological transitions

  • What are we learning about how to nurture healthy agroecological systems?
  • How can agroecological research fully include marginalized groups and build relevant knowledge for all?
  • How can we foster AE transitions at different scales: farm, community, landscape, territory?

Day 3: Agroecology and food systems transformations

  • How can agroecological research have impacts on food systems, nutrition and food security?
  • How can we increase the impact of research and practice on policies for food systems transformations?
  • What is the potential of holistic, systems-based research to contribute to more ecological production systems, better health and nutrition, and rural livelihoods?

There will be an interpretation in English, French, and Spanish.
