Webinar ''The agroecological farming practices of the Shashe community of Zimbabwe'' on 9 January 2021

The Shashe block of farms in the Maszinvgo province of central Zimbabwe is home to 500 farming families. Together with the Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum (ZIMSOFF) and Shashe Agroecology School, they have worked to revive arid cattle-ranching land into rich, abundant food forests.

The school trains farmers in agroecological farming techniques such as inter-cropping, water-harvesting, and farmer-to-farmers exchanges. Their practice focused on a particular seed supply and food sovereignty and ecological production integrated with seasonal customs and traditions. This session presented an in-depth focus on farmer-led solutions to socio-economic, environmental, and cultural issues, stimulating a designing methodology for the holistic nurturing of landscapes at the Shashe block of farms.

This webinar is part of the programme of Oxford Real Farming Conference 2021.
