Equitable Commercialization Networks: Facilitating Access to Healthy Food

A successful agroecological transition is not only about sustainable food production but also ensuring access to healthy foods through a fair food system. Direct-to-consumer initiatives like farmers’ markets, food basket deliveries, and online stores are common, but their impact is limited. To expand agroecology, stronger commercialization networks are essential.

Innovative approaches such as school lunch programs, "earth markets" tied to the Slow Food movement, and food sovereignty corridors are being used by civil society organizations and farmers to scale these efforts. These ideas were highlighted in the Agroecology Fund’s July 2024 webinar focused on commercialization networks for healthy foods.
