The challenges in front of the food systems and the need to transform them have become central in experts' speeches, and more recently, in political discourse, as evidenced by the organization of a Food system Summit in 2021, initiated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The  COVID-19 crisis has brought to light the many fragilities of our global food system and has added weight to many voices calling for change.

The Family Farming Barometer 2020 - the result of a collaboration between SOS Faim, Iles de Paix, Autre Terre, and the World Rural Forum - offers an exploratory dive into the heart of the emerging concept of food systems and draws up an observation: the current food system is not up to the challenges of the 21st century, and it is urgent to transform it radically. The Barometer also provides leads to engage in building a sustainable food system.
