Food System Summit 2021 Dialogues on 14 May 2021 ''Agroecology, eco-agri-food system and socio-environmental health: Pathway to sustainable development''

Agroecology is now emerging as a science, a productive practice in the countryside and a social movement. Faced with a food system in crisis, the integration of agroecology into an eco-agri-food model is a very viable alternative for the towns and cities of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world. At this meeting, international experts with more than 30 years of experience working in research and in the field will demonstrate the enormous potential of agroecological production.

Food production, through an eco-agro-food model, builds citizenship, empowers the most vulnerable, solves serious food problems, strengthen capacities and provides genuine employment, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions (climate change), improves the quality of soil, water, air and biodiversity and restores degraded systems in the environment of towns and cities and at the same time offers new production alternatives for small, medium and large farmers in Latin America and the world.

The presentation, with the participation of world leaders in the field, will explain how, what, why and where it is possible to implement models of this kind, their analysis, benefits, costs, problems and opportunities.
