The food system is facing enormous challenges. Inequalities, environmental degradation, scarcity, and overabundance characterize the conventional system. Alternative forms of food production and distribution are urgently needed.

The Agroecology & Food Systems specialization, part of the master's program in Environment and Natural Resources, aims to give an in-depth understanding of different approaches to sustainable food production and nutrition by focusing on approaches to agroecology, regional value chains, and fair trade relationships.

With the research groups of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and collaboration with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL), the master’s program in Environment and Natural Resources presents a wide range of specialization options to choose from.
