Watch: Weaver Ant in Organic Cashew Plantation, an Agroecological Crop Protection Technique

This article highlights the use of weaver ants as a natural pest control method in organic cashew plantations, specifically at the ASSET Project's flagship site in Rovieng district, Cambodia.

Weaver ants, often called "farmers' friends," protect crops like cashews from pests, forming part of Agroecological Crop Protection (ACP). ACP integrates agroecology, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and organic and regenerative agriculture to boost crop yield and nut quality. This approach minimizes the need for chemical pesticides, lowers production costs, increases farmers' profits, and promotes the health of both farmers and the environment while enhancing farm resilience.

The video is co-produced in collaboration with the Green Cashew Project in 2024.
