The National Training Service of Colombia and FAO join forces to train and certify extension workers

The National training service of Colombia (SENA for his acronym in Spanish) and FAO signed an agreement for the training and certification of the country's future extension workers, who are responsible for disseminating knowledge and technical assistance to rural territories. The agreement aims to provide direct advice to communities and generate a teaching process that will strengthen the peasant economy.

It is expected that the program will strengthen family farming, social innovation, and sustainable agrifood systems based on SENA's experience in comprehensive professional training and FAO's expertise in family farming, social and technological innovation for the promotion sustainable agrifood systems. Specific courses on “Rural Agricultural Extension service and Agroecology” and “Food and Nutritional Security for Rural Communities” will be developed to boost rural growth and productivity.
