Agroecology Knowledge Hub

Database

Agroecology plays an important role in contributing to the eradication of hunger and extreme poverty, and as a means to facilitate the transition to more productive, sustainable and inclusive food systems. Creating a greater awareness of agroecology and its advantages is an important step to help policy-makers, farmers and researchers to apply this approach to achieve a world without hunger.

The database provides a starting point to organize the existing knowledge on agroecology, collecting articles, videos, case studies, books and other important material in one place. The objective is to support policy-makers, farmers, researchers and other relevant stakeholders through knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer. The database is a ‘living process’ that is constantly being updated.

This paper investigates the effect of a cluster-planting pattern on intraspecific interactions and tests whether cluster planting can modify the type and intensity of intraspecific interactions, thus increasing yield. The growth characteristics of different organs of cotton under cluster and traditional planting patterns were studied and the effect of different...

Actinomycetes were isolated from sugarcane soils by improved Gao’s No.1 synthetic medium. Physiological and biochemical characteristics, molecular identification and phylogenetic analysis were carried out on 29 isolates selected by morphology. Antimicrobial activity of the soil actinomycetes to plant pathogenic fungi was studied using the Dual-culture method. The results of identification...

Sugarcane-maize intercropping is an important planting pattern in sugarcane production areas. This practice favors sugarcane production, improves land use efficiency and decreases the need for pesticide use. However, the effects of sugarcane and maize intercropping on the rhizosphere’s microbial community have been less reported. In this study, a plot experiment...

Agricultural biodiversity have multiple functions. One of them is to control the occurrence and extent of pests and diseases. Biodiversity can be described as morphological, functional or interactional diversity. Comprehensive results can be determined by analyzing the diversity of interactional molecules. An effective strategy to promote crop growth and decrease...

Increasing the habitat diversity and stability of agro-ecosystems by crop genetics and species diversification has been a focus in agricultural research and an increasing trend in insect pest control. However, the mechanisms involved and degree of pest reduction are dependent on a thorough understanding of the behavior of the relevant...
