Integrated production can be used in Mediterranean agricultural environments as a starting point strategy for an agroecological transition. This transition has to address important challenges: recovering deteriorated agrarian soils; improve the quality of irrigation waters; use varieties adapted to Mediterranean atmospheric conditions, especially in terms of adapting to ozone levels...

Agricultural intensification during the last decades has caused a remarkable decline in the populations of birds that breed in European agro-ecosystems. In Spain, this process is affecting species closely related to the Mediterranean cereal pseudo-steppes, whose main world populations are found, precisely, in the Iberian peninsula. In recent years, several...

Biological conservation control is positioning itself as an alternative to the use of synthetic chemical pesticides to control pest arthropod populations. The use of this strategy is aimed at increasing the abundance and diversity of the auxiliary fauna community through different techniques. However, it is observed that the increase of...

The importance of agroecological-based management practices has been widely discussed in the literature. The relationship between those practices and the regulatory services in agroecosystems is an essential contribution to the development of sustainable production systems. This paper analyzes the relationship between agroecological management practices in horticulture and the different regulation...

The evaluation of ecosystem services has become, in recent decades, an important framework for socio-ecological research. The present work makes an approximation to the Huerta de Murcia as a territory where, historically, the ecosystem and society have co-evolved, configuring the current socio-ecosystem. Although there are numerous studies of different nature on...

A methodology is proposed to estimate soil quality and crop health based on simple indicators that are easy to use. Based on the estimation of these indicators, producers and researchers can determine the agroecological status of the plantation. With the values obtained for each indicator, "amoeba" diagrams are constructed, which...
