Open Call for AgriTech Champions – Digital demo farms

FAO invites agritech innovators to showcase their digital solutions on demonstration farms in selected countries of Europe and Central Asia (Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan) as part of the 1 000 Digital Villages Initiative (DVI).  

On these digital demo farms, participants will have the chance to display innovative agricultural technologies, products, and services, testing and putting them into practice for the benefit of local farmers and communities. 

The call is open to any organization, including established agtech providers, startups, academic institutes, and non-governmental organizations. If you own a technology that can support agricultural activities, this is your chance to make a tangible impact on sustainable agriculture and rural development in the region!

• Submission deadline: 10 September 2023
  
• Selection of agritech innovators: 30 September 2023
  
• Organizations are expected to deploy their solutions by 30 November 2023. 

About the Digital Villages Initiative:

FAO launched the corporate programme “Digital Villages Initiative (DVI)” with the goal of converting over 1 000 villages around the world into digital village hubs. Since its launch, the programme has been implemented in several countries across the globe.

DVI is taking action to accelerate the digital transformation of agriculture and rural areas in eight countries of Europe and Central Asia: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. The vision of DVI in Europe and Central Asia is to empower every village and rural community to utilize digital technologies to increase agricultural productivity and improve rural livelihoods, leveraging their local strengths. Through the Digital Villages Initiative, FAO aims to harness the power of digital technologies, grassroots innovations, knowledge, and partnerships to develop rural communities that are people-centric, smart, green, connected, and interconnected.
