Webinars Series: Introduction to Google Earth Engine for Remote Sensing Analysis

30/01/2024
Imagery is one of the most important and useful geospatial data layers available today. However, it is still one of the most difficult to deploy effectively over the myriad of computing platforms available to geographic information system (GIS) users.

Google Earth Engine (GEE) is an example of a cloud-based image service that combines an extensive archive of satellite imagery, historical and current, with application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow analysis to be performed on this imagery without having to move it to the user’s desktop.

Under the umbrella of its Agro-informatics work, FAO is launching a new series of interactive trainings on “Introduction to Google Earth Engine (GEE) for remote sensing analysis”.

This course is dedicated to beginner users who want to understand how to write scripts in Google Earth Engine to boost their remote sensing analysis. It is divided into a few modules that include topics such as: Image and image collections; Feature collection; Reducers; Functions; Iterate over multiple images; Pre-processing of SAR images and much more!

A minimum understanding of remote sensing principles is recommended, familiarity with scripting languages is a plus.

The trainings are scheduled every Thursday 16.00 - 17.00 CET from 18 January to 2 May 2024.
