This webinar discusses VocBench 3 V7.0. Initially developed by FAO in the context of the NeOn project as a collaborative environment for the development of the Agrovoc thesaurus, later generalized to a SKOS development platform in the context of a collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, VocBench has, in 2017, reached its third incarnation. VocBench 3 (or simply, VB3), is the new version of VocBench, funded by the European Commission ISA² programme, and with development managed by the Publications Office of the EU, under contract 10632 (Infeurope S.A.).
In this webinar, the presenters displayed the latest version of VocBench (7.0) and introduced the new features that will be available in the forthcoming release 8.0 this July. This webinar is meant for bringing news to users who are already familiar with the system, yet can be a good occasion for newcomers being introduced to the platform for the first time.
Armando Stellato
Armando Stellato, PhD, is Researcher at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata, where he researches and teaches in the fields of Knowledge Representation and Knowledge Based Systems. He is author of more than 100 publications on conferences and journals in the fields of Semantic Web, Natural Language Processing and related areas and has been member of the program committees of over 100 international scientific conferences and workshops. Currently his main interests cover Architecture Design for Knowledge Based Systems, Knowledge Acquisition and Onto-Linguistic interfaces, for which he participated to several EU funded projects, such as Crossmarc, Moses, Cuspis, Diligent, Neon, INSEARCH, SCIDIP-ES, AgInfra SemaGrow. Dr. Stellato has also been consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations as Semantic Architect, working on all aspects related to maintenance and publication of FAO RDF vocabularies such as AGROVOC, Biotech and Journal Authority Data and on the development of VocBench.

Andrea Turbati
Andrea Turbati, Ph.D., collaborates with the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. His research interests span across Knowledge Representation and Knowledge Based Systems. He is author of ~30 publications in the Semantic Web area. During his Ph.D. he worked on ontology learning and population from unstructured content. His Ph.D. thesis was about the design and development of CODA (Computer-aided Ontology Development Architecture), an architecture and a framework that extends the unstructured information management framework UIMA to support the generation of RDF data. He is one of the developers of Semantic Turkey, a platform for Knowledge Acquisition and Management, and VocBench (mainly covering its interaction with Sematic Turkey) - a collaborative web-based, multilingual, editing and workflow tool that manages thesauri, authority lists and glossaries using SKOS-XL. He is part of the AGROVOC team at Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as the Information Management Specialist and AGROVOC technical expert.
