Opening ceremony of XV Session of the Commission on Livestock Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (CODEGALAC)

(CODEGALAC) will be held online from 17 to 19 August 2021 and will be hosted by the Government of Uruguay. The opening ceremony will take place at 11:00 hours Chilean time (GMT-4) on 17 August 2021.

The Commission brings together representatives of Governments and the regional private sector for the exchange of experiences in livestock development policies and programmes and the formulation of cooperation strategies for their strengthening.

The XV Session of CODEGALAC will be held pursuant to the recommendations of the XXXVI FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean and the XIV Session of CODEGALAC. Member States of the Commission on Livestock Development, representatives of the United Nations and its specialized agencies, experts and observers are among the participants.

During the Commission, delegates from member countries, observers, and international experts will discuss issues related to recovery for inclusive, resilient, sustainable and low-emission livestock production; the role of innovation, comprehensive health and challenges for national and international trade, among others. The objective of these exchanges is to consolidate capacities, share experiences, and generate recommendations to support the preparation of policy frameworks for the sector and the design and implementation of national and regional livestock development programs in the countries of the Region.
