FAO is conducting a series of knowledge-rich webinars on a monthly basis as part of the Progressive Management Pathway for Terrestrial Animal Biosecurity Community of Practice. These webinars cover a host of topics related to the progressive improvement of terrestrial animal biosecurity, involving speakers and participants from multiple disciplines and backgrounds.
The upcoming webinar will showcase a recent study conducted by FAO concerning the regional One Health information exchange networks that exist in East and West Africa. The study described the communication flow between field service providers in the animal health, public health, wildlife and/or natural resources sector. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing information about emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance trends.
During the webinar, the presenters will explore the current networks in key focus countries; the information needs of field service providers; how linkages between public and private sectors can be improved; and the components of an environment conducive to successful implementation. It is hoped that by sharing lessons learned from existing One Health information exchange networks, there will be a renewed focus on enabling field service providers to share information to enhance disease prevention and response, including biosecurity management, and One Health outcomes.
