Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Aquatic Genetic Resources
Description
The Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Technical Working Group on Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture will be held in person from 18-20 September 2024. The Session will be convened at FAO headquarters under the Regular Programme of the Organization and will have interpretation in the UN languages.
The Working Group was established, on an ad hoc basis, by the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture at its Fifteenth Regular Session in January 2015 and established as a regular Working Group at its Seventeenth Session in 2019. Issues addressed by the Fifth Session of the Working Group will include:
- Implementation of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture;
- Development of the FAO Aquatic Genetic Resources Information System (AquaGRIS);
- Indicators for monitoring the implementation of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture;
- Preparation of The Second Report on the State of the World’s Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture; and
- Climate change and aquatic genetic resources for food and agriculture.
