The escalation of conflict in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Middle East has increased risks to global energy, fertilizer, and agrifood systems. Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are raising energy and input costs worldwide. Fertilizer shortages and higher energy prices threaten crop yields and food price stability, especially in import-dependent regions. Immediate measures and long-term strategies are needed to stabilize supply chains and safeguard global energy and food security.
