FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific

29th session – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 22-25 February 2022

Hybrid Event, 21/01/2022 - 28/02/2022

The 29th session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) will convene virtually from 22 to 25 February 2022, hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia.

APFC is one of six regional forestry commissions established by FAO to provide a policy and technical forum for countries to discuss and address forest issues on a regional basis.

FAO encourages wide participation of government officials from forestry and other sectors as well as representatives of international, regional and sub-regional organizations that deal with forest-related issues in the region, including NGOs, academia, and the private sector.

The 29th session of the APFC will highlight the theme “Forests and green recovery in Asia and the Pacific” and assess what forestry can do to facilitate change and build back better in a sustainable, equitable, resilient, and climate-friendly way. Consideration will also be given to FAO’s work on agri-food systems; Global Forest Resources Assessment 2020: State of forestry in Asia and the Pacific.
