Regional Training Workshop for Fish Loss Assessment Methods: A Gender-Responsive Approach

Hybrid Event, 24/06/2024 - 28/06/2024

Technical experts from Fishery Ministries or Departments in Southeast Asian countries will gather in Bangkok for a five-day workshop aimed at addressing the challenge of reducing Fish Loss and Waste. The workshop will focus on capacity building in methods to measure fish losses, integrating a gender-responsive approach.

The training will pave the way for formulating activities to initiate pilots for measuring fish losses as an input to promote policies, strategies, and programmes to reduce fish losses, with specific focus on the impact on women involved in the fish value chains. The data from fish loss measurement will also enable countries to strengthen the reporting on Food Loss Index from the perspective of the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Reducing FLW in the fishery sector by half by 2030 is a key objective of achieving Blue Transformation which is based on sustainable aquaculture, sustainable fisheries, and sustainable trade and value chains.
