Stakeholder Validation Workshop for the Development of a National Plan of Action to Combat IUU Fishing (NPOA-IUU)

The Stakeholder Validation Workshop in the Maldives under the TCP/MDV/3603/C3, Development of a National Plan of Action to Combat IUU Fishing (NPOA-IUU), was successfully held on 23 January 2019. The objective of the workshop was to seek comment and agreement on the content of the Maldives NPOA-IUU. The workshop was opened by the Honorable Minister Zaha Waheed of the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture. There was active engagement from thirty-five participants representing the catching and processing sector, Customs, Coast Guard, Marine Police, Marine Research Centre, and the Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
