FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific

World Food Safety Day 2021, Asia Pacific Edition

Hybrid Event, 03/06/2021

World Food Safety Day celebrated on 7 June 2021 is a United Nations global awareness strategy, which aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism, and sustainable development.

To this end, FAO, WPRO, SEARO, UNEP, OIE, and WFP are co-organizing an event for Asia and Pacific, on 3 June 2021, 11-12:30 pm Bangkok time.

The objectives of the event are:

  • Engage the public and private sectors as well as the general public to take action to ensure that food remains safe from production to consumption.
  • Inspire everyone to learn more about the one health approach to food safety.

It will be an event open to the general public.

It will focus on the holistic “One Health” approach for food safety, which recognizes the connection between the health of people, animals and the environment and the impact on food safety.

The meeting will be held on Zoom and streamed on YouTube.
