“New Frontiers of the mind and technology are before us, and if they are pioneered with the same vision, boldness and drive with which the battle against food shortage was fought by Borlaug through the green revolution, we can achieve the Zero Hunger goal sooner than generally considered possible”, said Prof. Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, Emeritus Chairman, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, former Director-General of International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) – and former Chair of FAO Council - during his key-note presentation on “Achieving Zero Hunger Targets in SAARC Countries” in the event, jointly organized by FAO Bangladesh and SAARC Agriculture Center, Dhaka on Tuesday, 08 December 2015.

The event held at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council was titled, “Commemoration of 31st SAARC Charter Day and International Year of Soil 2015”.
