The Animal Production and Health Sub-programme of the Joint FAO/IAEA Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture has recently published "Methods in gut microbial ecology for ruminants", edited by H.P.S. Makkar and C.S. McSweeney. The book gives a comprehensive account of the methodologies for conventional and modern molecular techniques that are currently in use for studying the gut microbial ecology of ruminants.
