Guide to the Aarhus Convention
Jointly published by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the book entitled "Your right to a healthy environment: A simplified guide to the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters" is now available on the web in English, French and Russian. The 18-page guide aims to present the rights and obligations under the Aarhus Convention in plain, easy-to-understand language. At their 2nd meeting in Kazakhstan in 2005, Parties to the Convention adopted an amendment to the Convention aiming to strengthen the rights of the public to participate in decision-making on genetically modified organisms.
