The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2008 as the International Year of the Potato (IYP) and FAO is leading its implementation. The IYP website has now been launched, providing a wealth of information about the IYP and its related events, as well as about the potato, including a series of factsheets compiled by FAO specialists on key issues in potato development. One of the factsheets is dedicated to the potato and biotechnology.
