To mark the 5th anniversary of the entry into force of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, on 11 September 2008, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity released a range of outreach materials related to the anniversary, whose theme was `The Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety: Five years of global cooperation towards sustainable development`. These include a statement from the UN Secretary General, a press release, poster and CD-ROM as well as a 5th anniversary edition of the newsletter Biosafety Protocol News.
