In 2001-2003, a series of four workshops on farm animal genetic resources was held in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), considering, among others, the topic of policies on biotechnology. A summary of these workshops, by I. Köhler-Rollefson, entitled "Farm animal genetic resources: Safeguarding national assets for food security and trade", has been published by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and FAO.
