FAO and the World Health Organization are jointly convening the 2nd Global Forum of Food Safety Regulators on 12-14 October 2004 in Bangkok, Thailand, on the theme of "Building effective food safety systems". For item 5.3 on the agenda, entitled "Dealing with emerging risks related to the environment and new technologies", a 12-page working document has been prepared which discusses new technologies, such as genetic modification, in food production.
