The Secretary-General submitted to the 58th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which opened on 16 September 2003, the "Report of the Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity". The General Assembly is the main deliberative organ of the United Nations. The report provides information on ongoing work regarding the Convention, including the status of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
