Brussels street art celebrates UN Decade on Ecosystems Restoration

29/09/2021

A giant artwork in one of Brussels’ most central avenues was unveiled by the Heads of the FAO and UNEP Offices in Brussels, the Belgian Minister of Environment and the city of Brussels Alderwoman for Culture, together with partners and sponsors. The 40-metre high painting by Spanish artist Lula Goce illustrates Mother Nature and is the first of a series of murals around the world that will be created to celebrate the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global effort led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and FAO.

During the inauguration ceremony, FAO Brussels Director Raschad Al-Khafaji talked about the importance of preventing, halting and reversing the degradation of ecosystems on every continent and in every ocean.
