Phnom Penh, Cambodia [1 June 2024] โ€“ The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF), with the esteemed patronage of Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony, Cambodia's First Lady, and partners including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the USAID - US Agency for International Development, kicked off Khmer Villages Exhibition and Discussion Forum on the Taste of Khmer Agricultural Products to foster concrete developments in support of local agricultural products.

Along with the recovery of tourism from the pandemic, Cambodia's food, and beverage (F&B) and hospitality sectors are expanding, attracting global and regional businesses looking for partnerships and distribution routes in the country. The F&B sector has recently emerged as a key driver of economic growth in Cambodia, having previously been a component of the tourism economy. Despite this progress, meeting the food and beverage and hospitality industry demands remains challenging. To address these challenges, MAFF, along with FAO, USAID, and other partners, organized the Khmer Agricultural Villages Exhibition and Discussion Forum on the Taste of Khmer Agricultural Products. This forum serves as a vital platform for collaboration and interaction among key stakeholders in the F&B and hospitality sectors, including producer and buyer associations.

The exhibition brought together agricultural processors and traders to showcase the potential of Cambodiaโ€™s agricultural products and strengthen and expand their markets. Furthermore, through strategic engagements, the fair aims to promote the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to increase local product utilisation. The Khmer Agricultural Villages Exhibition and Discussion Forum on the Taste of Khmer Agricultural Products offered a vibrant platform for business matchmaking, technological demonstrations, and compliance showcases in the agri-food industry. The two-day event is projected to attract more than 20,000 visitors in total. Simultaneously, the fair provided a dynamic marketplace where both producers and buyers could present their offerings, encouraging public participation and support for locally sourced items.
