To mark the occasion of World Food Safety Day, the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) collaborated to organize the Youth Forum for Food Safety 2024 in Phnom Penh.

This dynamic event brought together students from four esteemed institutions—Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), Preak Leap National College of Agriculture (PNCA), Royal University of Agriculture (RUA), Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE), National University of Management (NUM) and Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)—with majors or interests in food science, technology, agriculture, or related fields.

The forum featured guest speakers representing four line ministries responsible for food safety in Cambodia, including the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). Through informative presentations, these representatives elucidated their roles and responsibilities in ensuring food safety within the country and emphasized the pivotal role young people can play in this effort.

Moreover, the event fostered interactive sessions where participants engaged in lively discussions, offering their perspectives and queries on food safety. This inclusive approach not only provided a platform for youth voices to be heard but also facilitated meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas between future leaders and policymakers in the realm of food safety.
