Heroes of the desert: Camels in the era of climate change

The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization and the University of Nairobi are organizing a webinar under the theme: “Heroes of the desert: Camels in the era of climate change”.

The purpose of this scientific webinar is to discuss the role of dromedary camels in sustainable livestock production, identify the challenges of camel keeping and their adaptation to changing climatic conditions. It will focus on the following topics:

• Camel pastoralism in Kenya: The perspectives, the challenges and the future
• The significance of camels as an animal genetic resource in the face of climate change
• The biodiversity of camels and genetic evolution of ancient and modern camels

The webinar will bring together experts, camel owners, researchers and professionals to share their knowledge, insights and experiences on the camel sector in the face of climate change, socio-economic changes and food security issues.
