Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources: upcoming regional consultation in Near East and North Africa
Regional consultations on the Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture will be held from 9 to 11 July 2024 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The meeting will be co-organized with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and hosted by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR).
During the regional consultations, National Focal Points will review and revise the Second Global Plan of Action for Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (Second GPA) in response to findings of The Third Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. A first draft of the Third Report was launched in July of last year on the occasion of the 19th Regular Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. The periodical reports on the state of the world’s plant genetic resources, prepared under the guidance of the Commission and the Second GPA are also support the implementation of the International Treaty.
