Monitoring of Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

The Commission, at its Eighteenth Regular Session, highlighted the need for the development of quantifiable indicators for the monitoring of the Global Plan of Action for the Conservation, Sustainable Use and Development of Aquatic Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and requested that these be incorporated into the global information system under development by FAO. 

A prototype information system, AquaGRIS, was released in March 2022. AquaGRIS is now being further expanded into a fully functional information system, which will incorporate the indicators under development, and will serve as an effective tool for monitoring the implementation of the Global Plan of Action.
