South-South Cooperation Study Tours from Uganda and Mongolia Visit China

According to the Tripartite Agreements and the Project Documents for the Implementation of the South-South Cooperation (SSC) Programme in support of the Agricultural Sector Strategy Plan in Uganda and the National Programme for Food Security in Mongolia, two SSC study tours from Uganda and Mongolia visited China from 4 to 17 September 2016 and from 21 September 2016. The two study tour missions, hosted by the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of MOA, provided the participants with access to Chinese agriculture-related experiences, practices and technologies, thus contributing to strengthening of capacities for Ugandan and Mongolian counterparts.

The study tour participants attended a series of important meetings with FECC, FAO-China Office, the Embassy of Uganda, the Embassy of Mongolia, as well as local authorities, institutes and enterprises in Beijing, Hebei, Sichuan, Jiangxi and Inner Mongolia. The missions addressed several technical areas such as livestock, aquaculture, horticultural, renewable energy, agro-machinery, irrigation, animal feed production, poultry production, bee farming etc. The participants were impressed with the advanced technologies and experiences of China and expressed their willingness to explore the cooperation with Chinese institutes and enterprises across various agricultural sectors.
