FAO China Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) Office successfully held the 3rd China Field Epidemiology Training Program for Veterinarians (CFETPV) in Qingdao from November 2014 to September 2016.

In the past two years, the 18 trainees from 13 provincial centers for animal disease prevention and control and 3 national institutes conducted 18 outbreak investigations, 18 epidemiological studies and 16 risk assessment studies. They also engaged in another 36 epidemiological studies and animal health events at national and local levels. In addition, they delivered epidemiology training to their colleagues and local staff.

The graduation ceremony of the 3rd CFETPV was held at China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center (CAHEC) in Qingdao on 23 September 2016. 18 trainees completed the 2-year training program and were awarded with the graduation certificate issued by FAO and MoA.

In 2010, FAO joined MoA in launching the China FETPV, which was implemented by CAHEC and the ECTAD China office. Over the past 6 years, 84 veterinarians selected from 27 provinces and municipalities attended this 2-year programme and graduated to be a field veterinarian of international level and vision. The programme has made enormous contribution to the capacity development on animal disease prevention and control for both China and its neighbors.
