Agrifood system solutions are climate solutions

FAO launches new interview series showcasing agrifood system solutions for climate action

23/10/2023

With the biggest climate change conference in the world, COP28, around the corner, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is releasing a series of informative interviews with experts from various fields.

Climate in the Hot Seat: Agrifood System Solutions are Climate Solutions explores concrete climate actions that can be found in our agriculture and food systems, and showcases the powerful results these solutions have on the ground.  Spanning sustainable crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture, land, water and soil, agrifood system solutions support resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration and ensure food security.

The interviews also highlight how FAO is innovating and supporting countries to deliver these solutions. Enabling policies and adequate institutional and regulatory frameworks; science-based interventions; inclusion of youth, women and Indigenous Peoples; cross-sectoral collaboration; and access to better climate finance are all necessary to achieve more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
