Food safety hazards, zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance can have detrimental consequences on global health, food security and livelihoods. Understanding the complex and interconnected challenges at the human-animal-ecosystem interface, the Joint FAO/WHO Centre facilitates multisectoral coordination, both internally and externally, to create strong synergies and yield innovative solutions to support countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Joint FAO/WHO Centre for Food Standards (CJWC)

The centre houses the Secretariat of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the central part of the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme, established by FAO and WHO to protect consumer health and promote fair practices in food trade by developing international food safety standards.

Joint Centre for Zoonotic Diseases and AMR (CJWZ)

CJWZ coordinates and reinforces FAO's work on zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance, fostering internal and external collaborations with diverse One Health disciplines to support global efforts in effectively addressing health threats at the animal-human-environment interface.
