Objective(s) of the engagement
The objective of this MOU is to strengthen the parties’ cooperation in supporting the date palm value chain to include responsible investment to enhance food security and improve livelihoods of the Near East and North Africa Region. In particlular, the partnership aims to promote cooperation in knowledge development through exchanged visits, consultations, and joint activities in areas of mutual interest, including but not limited to: a. organization of international meetings or technical events related to date palm and other topics of common interest; b. collaboration in the development of publications, joint organization of workshops and other activities related to date palm value chain in the Region; c. preparation of joint date palm reports, guidelines, and glossaries covering date palm development; d. identification of potential synergies in collaborating at the local and regional level in sharing and disseminating information related to the area of nutrition and date palm production; e. joint collaboration on initiatives or programmes that are of relevance to the mandate of the Parties; f. joint collaboration on media promotions of KIADPAI through FAO’s cooperate Media channels, when appropriate; and g. provision of specialized governance and policy training and exchange-of-solutions approaches in agriculture, fisheries, genetic resources, land, water, environment, and food-water-energy-environment nexus areas.
