Objective(s) of the engagement

This partnership aims to support local producers and their networks globally. The cooperation focuses on improving and promoting capacity development of local producers’ networks in areas related to food price volatility; standard setting for the commercialization of agricultural, livestock and forestry products; development of best practices especially on the use of new technologies; and promotion of private sector and civil society engagement in the development and implementation of related national policies.

Progress to date
  • Joint advocacy and awarness raising events were organized with the Club’s members (about 110 Spanish companies) and other companies working in agriculture and nutrition in Spain, with a focus on the Committee on World Food Security Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS RAI) and FAO-OECD Guidance for Responsible Agricultural Supply Chains 
  • Facilitated  and leveraged financial support for food security and nutrition projects in different countries, and faciliatetd collaborations betweent FAO and  key individual members of the Club
  • Joint advocacy and awareness raising activities were carried out on the SAVE FOOD iniative amongst the private sector in Spain
