"Launch of the Accelerator Mentorship Programme for Women-led SMEs in Africa" – FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2024
The FAO Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU) is pleased to announce an upcoming side event during World Food Forum week titled "Launch of the Accelerator Mentorship Programme for Women-led SMEs in Africa." This event will mark the launch of the third round of the jointly led FAO-IAFN initiative: Accelerator Mentorship Programme for Women-led SMEs in Africa.
The initiative aims to support 50 female entrepreneurs (mentees) across Africa by providing mentorship from a panel of experienced women entrepreneurs in the agrifood sector from around the world. It will contribute to building more productive, sustainable, and innovative agrifood systems, addressing social, economic, environmental, and gender considerations.
Scheduled for October 17th, from 13:00 to 13:30 pm, the event will take place at FAO Headquarters in Rome and online.
The event agenda features distinguished speakers, including senior management from FAO and IAFN, along with three participants from the programme, who will share their testimonials, aspirations, and achievements.
Participants will gain valuable insights into the potential of private sector engagement, with a particular focus on fostering synergies and exploring collaborative opportunities between private entities and women entrepreneurs.
We encourage all interested parties to join this important event and learn how private sector partnerships can empower women and youth while advancing sustainability in agriculture. Early registration is recommended to secure attendance, whether in person or online.
