Bishkek – Marking a pivotal step towards the future of agriculture in the country, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic hosted a ministerial technical meeting on 21 December to support the country in updating the National Concept for the Digitalization of Agriculture and developing farmer service centers.

Under the Digital Villages Initiative in Central Asia, FAO and the Ministry joined forces to update the National Concept for the development of digitalization in the agricultural sector and creating a robust concept for farmer service centers. This endeavor includes revising the organizational structure and management system within the Ministry of Agriculture and its divisions, with recommendations for possible reorganization in these areas.

Insights gathered during the comprehensive analysis of current business processes and information systems, governance structure for the digitalization sector of the ministry, and results of interviews with key actors, including representatives from the Regional Departments of Agricultural Development, village municipalities, corporate farms, and private farms formed the basis for preliminary recommendations. These recommendations focus on the introduction of necessary information systems, the optimization of business processes for services provided by the ministry, the conceptualization of the Farmers Service Center "Sanarip Dyikan," and proposals for the governance structure.

During the ministerial technical meeting, representatives from various departments, subordinate organizations of the Ministry, and other stakeholders actively engaged in discussions, sharing invaluable opinions and feedback on the proposed recommendations. These insights will play a pivotal role in shaping the final National Concept for the Digitalization of Agriculture and the accompanying Farmer Service Centers Concept.
